Musician Charles Njagua also known
as Jaguar has broken his silence after he was allegedly rigged out during the
Starehe constituency Jubilee party primaries. The 'Kigeugeu' hit maker had
reportedly managed to floor billionaire and business magnate Maina Kamanda who
is the incumbent with congratulatory messages pouring in. A box of votes was
reportedly brought into the tallying centre which gave Kamanda a surprise, last
minute win.
This resulted into chaos with Jaguar
storming the Jubilee party headquarters in Pangani, Nairobi where President
Uhuru Kenyatta was making a televised address. Jaguar has now broken his
silence after the results were cancelled pending directions from the Jubilee
party Appeals Tribunal. The musician condemned the MP for 'stealing' his
victory saying that was an unbecoming behaviour by an 'old man' like Kamanda.
"We had won..we did not know a
mzee (old man) could steal votes from his son..he had pledged that he will
support me only for him to steal my victory," Jaguar said on Friday April
28 at the Jubilee headquarters. He had arrived at the party offices with his
supporters awaiting the Appeals Tribunal decision. Jaguar said he had won in
all polling stations except two and that the total tally from his agents showed
he had 9,819 votes against Kamanda's 6,000.
" I did not understand how or
where he got 12,000 votes..we want the certificate, we will not go home until
we get it," the musician added. He vowed that Kamanda would never be MP
for Starehe come August 8 general elections.
