Despite a heavy defeat in Jubilee primaries, Kiambu governor William Kabogo is understandably plotting for a ‘huge’ political come back ahead of
2022
elections.Already, Deputy President William Ruto has publically announced his intentions to run for
2022
, a move that has been supported by President Uhuru Kenyatta. But
the controversial governor, who blamed unnamed people for his downfall,
has reportedly met a host of aspirants who cried foul of Jubilee
nominations in which DP Ruto was in charge.Although it is not clear when he will pull a trigger, sources indicate that Kabogo will run as an Independent, support Uhuru’s reelection before taking over as Kikuyu community spokesman.
“He won’t go down like that and he told the nation after his downfall. He is now gathering a number of politicians and soon he will take over Central Kenya, a move that will sabotage Ruto’s bid,” said political analyst Dismas Mokua.
He added: “He is wealthy and that gives him an n upper hand to take over. He may lose in August but that will give him humble time to consolidate Central Kenya support should Uhuru win.”
Even though he has not come out public on his humiliating defeat, Kabogo is said to have met political heavyweights among them Kembi Gitura and Jamleck Kamau at Norfolk Hotel moments after losing to Ferdinand Waititu in Jubilee nominations.
He has since registered as independent candidate and promised to ‘fight’ until August even after ‘graciously’ accepting Jubilee results.
