Some serving governors have not
survived the onslaught that is the current Jubilee primaries if the latest
results are anything to go by. The trend started with Kirinyaga Governor Joseph
Ndathi who conceded defeated on Tuesday April 25 after pulling in third in the
nominations having been beaten by former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru and
Kirinyaga Central MP Joseph Gitari. Then came in Nandi gubernatorial results
which showed that incumbent
Now a third Jubilee Governor has
been defeated in the hotly contested race. Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has
lost the race to Stanley Kiptis Preliminary results from Eldama-Ravine saw
Kiptis lead with 123,505 votes against Cheboi's 6,682 votes, while in Baringo
Central, Cheboi garnered 4,964 votes against Kiptis' 13,805 votes.
At the same time, Mogotio MP Prof
Hellen Sambili, who defected to Jubilee last year, has lost the nomintations to
Dr Daniel Tuitoek. Reports also indicate that Baringo Central MP Sammy Mwaita
has been defeated by David Kerich. At the same time, a man has been arrested
with six teargas canisters, and two machetes near Rarieda Secondary School, the
tallying centre for Rarieda constituency ODM primaries.
