The High Court Finally Allows Joho To Vie In August Elections

The High Court makes a major ruling in the Joho-State case
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho will be on the ballot come August. The high court has poured cold water on his forgery case.

The state has been barred from further prosecuting the Governor over the legitimacy of his academic credentials. This means that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has also been barred from freezing his accounts.

The court ruled that Joho's woes were politically motivated and therefore unjust. Justice Eric Ogola ruled that several state agencies were working in cahoots to stop Joho from vying. “All alleged investigations by the Government agencies have a political ending in my observation,” Ogola said. Joho stood to lose the chance to vie in Mombasa should the court find him guilty of forgery. The High Court makes a major ruling in the Joho-State case

The court has also ruled that the state is required to reinstate the security detail to the Governor as he is a legislator
