Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo
Midiwo has been dealt a heavy blow in his quest to retain the seat in the
August General Election. This is after the veteran politician was floored in
the ongoing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries.
Midiwo lost the ODM ticket for Gem
constituency to little known Elisha Odhiambo. Jakoyo Midiwo Jakoyo Midiwo.
Odhiambo garnered 13,400 votes to
Midiwo's 8,900 votes. The Gem MP who is ODM leader Raila Odinga's cousin had
trailed Odhiambo in all polling stations in the constituency. Immediately the
results were announced an angry Midiwo stormed out of the tallying center.
Midiwo claimed the nomination exercise had massive irregularities and was
unfair to him.
The results of the primaries was
announced by Gem Returning Officer Willis Anayo on Wednesday, April 26.
