Former University of Nairobi student
leader Babu Owino is seeking to become the next member of parliament for
Embakasi East constituency through an ODM ticket. Babu is among a host of
aspirants who will take part in the ODM nominations in Nairobi county scheduled
for Sunday, April 30. However, reports have emerged that the ODM has
disqualified the fiery former student leader from the nominations over

allegedly from ODM director of communications Philip Etale claims that Babu
will not be allowed to participate in the primaries. "As mandated by our
party rules and regulations, the ODM disciplinary committee has resolved to
disqualify Mr. Babu Owino from running for the Embakasi East parliamentary seat
in the forthcoming ODM nominations on Sunday 30th April 2017. This is after he
was one of the aspirants found culpable of the tampering with the Nairobi
Nominations materials leading to the earlier cancellation of the

However, Etale has come out to
strong dismiss the statement as propaganda from one of Babu's rivals in the
race for the ODM ticket. Etale castigated the author of the statement for
misusing his name to gain mileage over Babu.
