Kiambu County governor William
Kabogo on Sunday, May 14 2017 said he would be defending his seat as an
independent candidate. Kabogo’s declaration came barely days after he was
floored by Ferdinand Waititu in the recent Jubilee Party primaries. Kabogo who seemed
to have moved on from the defeat recently proved otherwise after making
shocking revelation about Deputy President William Ruto.
The Kiambu governor has accused
William Ruto of allegedly using money to frustrate his bid for the
very-important Jubilee Party ticket to defend his seat. This, Kabogo revealed
in a candid interview with a local publication. Kabogo sensationally claimed
the Deputy President dished out money at the Jubilee Party headquarters in
Pangani to ensure that he lost in the party primaries.
’We saw so and so receiving money
from a black Mercedes Benz at Jubilee headquarters. They would go to a hotel and
plan how to rig and the people who were planning mentioned the DP’s
name.’’Kabogo said. The incumbent Kiambu governor said he has proof to support
claims should it be necessary.
Kabogo and Ruto have not been seeing
each other eye to eye after falling out last year. Their animosity was sparked
by Kabogo’s remarks. Kabogo told Ruto to his face that Central Kenya region
voters would not automatically vote him president come 2022.
