Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Mumbi Waiguru will beat Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua hands-down in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial race on August

, a political analyst has said.Peter Ngure says that Waiguru’s win in the Jubilee Party nomination should worry Karua and other rivals in the Kirinyaga governor race.
In an interview on Wednesday, Ngure said that Waiguru’s triumph against political giants in Kirinyaga JP nominations should not be taken lightly by her rivals.
Ngure states that Waiguru stands a better chance of defeating Karua basing on her silent but vigorous campaigns.
“Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua should brace up for a tough battle with Waiguru, because the former CS seems not to be joking in her quest to clinch the Kirinyaga governor seat,” he said.
Ngure attributed Waiguru’s victory in the JP nomination to massive grass root campaigns.
He said that the former CS conducted silent massive grass root campaigns to woo for support.
Ngure also said that Waiguru’s firmness and boldness made Kiranyaga locals to endorse her candidature on JP ticket.
“Waiguru is bold and does not fear intimidation and that is why he floored political giants in JP nominations,” he added.
Ngure said that Waiguru’s win is historic in Mt Kenya politics.
The former Devolution CS emerged winner in Kirinyaga JP nominations garnering
 100
,632 votes.
Her close rival Gitari Gachoki garnered
 46
,678 while the incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi got
 17
,085 votes in the JP nomination.
Waiguru has since thanked supporters and asked her rival Martha Karua to prepare for a showdown in the August
 8
polls.
The governor hopeful said that she will champion people’s rights and push for development if she is elected in August.
The former CS bid had been written off by a section of political analysts who claimed that the ghosts of the National Youth Service (NYS) scam would deny her the JP ticket.
Waiguru resigned in
 2015
as Devolution CS over the NYS saga and ventured into politics.
