Nairobi gubernatorial seat
contestant Peter Kenneth has warned that an election of Senator Mike Sonko, his
competitor for the Jubilee party ticket, will be a disaster for the capital's
residents.
"Sonko will be a disaster for
Nairobians and am praying for a free, fair and credible nominations exercise
tomorrow since the party has improved on logistical issues that had affected
primaries," said Kenneth.
Mr Kenneth in an interview on
national television said the battle for the city top seat will not be a popularity
show down but instead an opportunity for the people to weigh in who stands a
chance to suitably serve the city needs.
He termed the incumbent's tenure as
pathetic saying governor Kidero had performed poorly and could rate him at 2
marks on a scale of a maximum of ten.
He pointed out a case of what he
referred to as ignoring Gikomba Market leaving traders under deplorable
conditions as they conduct business at a sewerage surrounded center.
He termed the rampant traffic
congestion as solvable accusing Dr Kidero of avoiding doing what should have
been done to solve the matter that has been of great concern to city residents.
Kenneth , during the interview
dismissed accusations against his performance records at key parastatals saying
his competitor Miguna Miguna had been labeling him as having failed in his
previous positions but could not substantiate the claims.
He urged the residents to watch out
on their choices as he believes the likes of Miguna Miguna would run away from
the city after the general elections.
"For Miguna, it will not be a
come baibe come, he will resolve to running away from the city,” he laughed off
on TV.
He moved to pledge ensuring that
sections of the county especially slum areas receive free clean drinking water
when elected, a move he said would help tackle health issues in the areas.
Kenneth will today face Senator
Sonko in the Jubilee party nominations that will determine who will face the
siting governor Dr Evans Kidero who has a direct ticket on ODM alongside Miguna
Miguna, running as an independent candidate.
