Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko alongside Peter Kenneth and Bishop Margaret Wanjiru are fighting to get the Jubilee party ticket to vie for Nairobi governor.
Sonko and Wanjiru are working closely together against Kenneth’s camp whom they have claimed is an outsider. Now Sonko and Wanjiru have indicated they already have running mates should they get the ticket to face off with Governor Evans Kidero.
Speaking in separate incidences Friday, March 24, the two revealed that they will deputise whoever between them is given the ticket to vie for governor. “There is no chance of none of us winning as we are only three contenders, so there is no option but for us to support each other,” Wanjiru told Nairobi News.
Speaking at Radio Citizen, Sonko said he will work with Wanjiru should she get the ticket. He also, for the first
time, admitted that he will support Kenneth should he win the nominations. “Akitushinda sisi tutamuunga mkono kwa sababu sisi tunataka siasa ya kidemkrasia ni vile wenzetu wanakosa kutuelewa upande ule mwingine (If he beats us we will support him because we value democracy unlike how our competitors think of us),” Sonko said in reference to Kenneth.
As reported early on by ONLINENEWS.INFO, the senator had accused a section of leaders in Jubilee of trying to block him from getting the ticket. Sonko claimed he had been denied a good conduct certificate and that the party had demanded his KCSE certificate.
