Incumbent Kiambu governor William Kabogo’s woes continue after he was sued by traders for double-licencing. Kabogo and his county government were sued by traders who include hotel bar owners based in Ruiru and Githurai. In the suit filed at the Milimani Law courts on Wednesday, April 26, the traders alleged that the county government were charging license fees for the same business twice.
They are now seeking to nullify the
Alcohol Drinks and Control (Licensing) which has imposed hefty conditions for
alcohol businesses in Kiambu county.
This is the latest predicament
facing governor Kabogo following his humiliating defeat to his political
nemesis Ferdinand Waititu in the Jubilee primaries.
Kabogo garnered 69916 votes to
Waititu’s 353,604 , and had conceded defeat hours prior to the final tally.
He did not go down without a touch
of controversy, however, as he alleged that some higher forces were out to oust
him from the gubernatorial race.
