The rule of incumbent Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has come to an unprecedented end.
Kabogo lost to his opponent, Ferdinand Waititu (Baba Yao) in Tuesday’s polls.
Waititu is almost sure of assuming county leadership come August 8. Going by provisional results released so far, he has garnered more than 15,641 votes against Kabogo 2, 350 But the big question remains, what could have led to Kabogo’s downfall in politics?
Political analyst Prof Herman Manyora explained that Kabogo’s downfall started the very day he went public and stated that Kikuyu community will not automatically support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 Presidential bid.

“This issue of Kikuyu’s not supporting Ruto in 2022 should not be taken for granted. Kabogo is not just a push-over; he is the kind of man who can galvanise Central Kenya people and that can mess you in 2022.”

“So, if there is a reason why DP Ruto might want to take Kabogo out, It is to do it 2022,” said Manyora on Citizen TV Tuesday.

A distraught Kabogo in his concession speech on Tuesday evening alleged there were powerful forces from the top who worked towards his downfall.

He said they considered him a threat. “Rumours are that I am a threat to someone. I don’t know if that is true but since we have it, we will bite it one step at a time.”

Further, he disputed the credibility of the polls saying he was arbitrarily rigged out.
“I wonna (sic!) say I do not agree with this nomination. The petition is with the party, the party can do whatever it deems fit to do but my comfort is that I was in this situation in 2007 when the honourable Michuki did not want me as the MP for Juja,” said Kabogo.

“He added: My fate is not with any human being; It is with God.”

On social media, Kiambu electorate said that they voted for his archenemy, Waititu, to teach him a lesson for being arrogant and disrespecting women.
